Mount St Helens
Posted Tuesday, 21 August 2007
Mount St Helens popped quite a few years ago and even now there are vast areas of sunbaked lava fields where there used to be old-growth forests. Typically we went on a foggy day (it seems we're doomed never to see a volcano properly on this trip), but the landscape was still pretty weird. We also climbed through an underground lava tunnel that was like walking through the belly of a beast. Really freaky and - I admit it - just a little bit scary.
