New Zealand's a beauty, mate.
Posted Wednesday, 07 March 2007
We were met by Karen (Jim's cousin) and Baz (her husband) when we landed at Nelson where we promptly left the airport building and picked up our bags in the car park where a small golf buggy with a trailor had dumped them. We stayed in Karen and Baz's wicked house with amazing views over Nelson. They have been perfect hosts, entertaining us with kayak races, barbeques, home-made beer, swimming in Abel Tasman national park and 'tramping' for three days in the wilderness of Kahurangi national park (where we slept in huts).

Nelson itself is very chilled with a pleasing pace of life. We are big fans of the cinema/pizza/drink deal (for £7 each - bargin). Unfortunately a nasty piece of grit got in Jim's eye, causing him to weep profusely throughout 'The Pursuit of Happyness'.

It isn't possible to adequately describe the scenery here; have a look at our pics or rent out Lord of the Rings for a better taste of how beautiful it is.
